Asymptotes: Meant to cross each other but never meant to be together

There has been a lot of buzzes when a famous singer, Justin Bieber, proposed to his girlfriend, Hailey Baldwin. This caused controversy because even though celebrities are always getting married with each other, most of the fans around the world believe that Justin B made a wrong decision. Why? Because he was meant for Selena Gomez.

I still remember the hype we got when he first came out with his song ‘Baby’. Everyone was shocked when there were rumors about their relationship way back 2009. I was even one of the disgruntled fans who believed that my ‘boyfriend’ was stolen from me. However, as the years passed we saw that they were actually a great couple and cheered for them. It was so weird when they started to be that kind of ‘on-and-off’ kind of couple. Imagine how it felt for the forever fans who suddenly received news that they broke off for good and that he proposed to his latest girlfriend. How can he declare loving Hailey forever when he was in love with Selena for a decade? I believe that they are what we call real life ‘Asymptotes’.

They are actually not the only people I have known to be asymptotes. One of my friend’s brother had a girlfriend since first year college. They were the type who laughed a lot and never even fought. 8 years later, I was astounded to hear that they broke up and the guy married his coworker. The guy and his wife are truly happy that it left some us baffled on how he can ‘move on’ so quickly. I think they are examples of how life can be so unpredictable that when you thought your relationship will last forever, things change and you meet someone else. So, when you think that he is finally the one for you, think again. We never know, you just might be only asymptotes.
