A defensive wall is a fortification usually used to protect a city, town or other settlement from potential aggressors. In ancient to modern times, they were used to enclose settlements. In mountain terrain, defensive walls were used in combination with castles to seal valleys from potential attack. Beyond their defensive utility, many walls also had important symbolic functions – representing the status and independence of the communities they embraced.
The significance of walls during the ancient time and even up to present is also paralleled to how one builds protection for his/her life. Walls can symbolize to standards. One set high standards and to not settle with just less especially in the aspect of future relationships.
Most people would say “I don’t have a choice”; it’s the heart that tells me he/she is the right one. You can’t choose who you fall in love with, they say. The truth is we have a choice regarding whom we date and whom we decide to invest in emotionally. We are in control our happiness and actions. It’s pretty obvious that the more we spend time with someone, the more we grow a bond with them especially when we’re being physically intimate. The point is if we want to avoid negative results in our lives and in our relationships, we should start setting standards for ourselves and for others. Set the bar and the boundaries higher for a healthy life and relationships. Start building the wall now, and build it high and strong!
