My First Travel Memory

I grew up in a small city in the southern part of the Philippines. And that easy, small-city life made me always want to travel. I knew early on that the world is huge and that there is so much to discover and learn about this planet we call home. Thankfully, I was born into a family that loves to travel. My parents themselves had traveled extensively, both when they were young and as a married couple.

I remember my first travel to a different city. I was six years old and was more than excited about what was to come. If my memory serves me right, it was also the first time I would ride a passenger bus. I remembered being overwhelmed by its size and had marveled at its capacity to transport so much people in a speed faster than many cars.

After 2 hours on the road, enjoying a view of the countryside, we finally arrived at our destination. I remember my heart skipping a beat out of sheer excitement knowing there’s a lot to discover. In that  moment of youth, I knew then that It was a start of a life filled with travel.
