Are your brass wares all dull and tarnished? Is the cost of cleaning them up by professional cleaners is more than your cherished brass possession themselves? And you do not like handling harsh cleaning chemical if you clean them yourself? You need not to worry, because you can be like a pro!
Here is one cleaning hack that can save you time and a lot of money. It is not only easy and economical but also non-toxic, thus making your cleaning fun and safe. You only need two ingredients that can be found in your kitchen: baking soda and vinegar (lemon is also good).
First step. Make a paste by mixing baking soda and vinegar (or lemon juice). Just how much of each? 1 is to 1 ratio is enough to make a paste. Bubbling is expected since this is a normal reaction between the two ingredients
Second step. Apply the paste into the brassware you want to clean. For best result, rub the paste as you apply it. Cover the entire brassware with it.
Third step. About five minutes is all it takes for the paste to do its job.
Fourth step. Using a soft rug, rub your brassware with it applying pressure. Extra pressure should be applied to heavily tarnished parts of the item. Avoid using brushes for they will scratch your brassware.
Fifth step. I brass ware is too heavily tarnished, repeat the steps one to four.
Sixth step. Rinsing with water is not necessary unless you can dry it off completely or else it will tarnish again too soon.
Toothpaste also is a good substitute if the above ingredients are not readily available. It contains sodium bicarbonate also and is cleanses just as well but not as cheap as the above solution.
Now cleaning brass wares is a breeze. Do it like a pro without the expenses and harshness of commercial cleaners.
