Have you ever wanted to experience what it felt like to wear what other countries wear when it’s cold? You can actually ‘pretend’ that you went to some foreign country when you are in CEDAR Impasugong, Bukidnon. This is a place where one can literally feel like you teleported to some fairyland. From the moment you exit the highway to the point where you take the long walk under lined-up cedar trees, it feels magical. When you arrive at the camping grounds, you will be asked to pay 10 pesos (.19$) for the maintenance of this nature resort.
CEDAR, Impasugong is our sanctuary every Holy Week. Several churches in Mindanao gather to bond, to learn more about our beliefs, and enjoy a week of stress-free living. Imagine the fun we have, all 2000 or more delegates, when instead of taking a bath in bathrooms, we would have to walk at least 1km to the clean springs, which is also the source of our water for drinking. We would also live in tents, where you can hear your neighbors snoring and bickering clearly. Not only that, every time it starts to go dark, the cicadas and crickets begin singing, filling the forest with what we can name as ‘nature white noise’. I don’t know why, but the night times are just so beautiful and bright it makes one feel nostalgic. The light pollution-free skies gave us a chance to look at the moon, the numerous stars, and the occasional falling star, which makes you want to just stare at the sky all night long and think of the times when life was just so simple. We would go out our tents every morning and find ourselves enveloped in a fog that you can never find in the sweltering cities. Cedar, Impasugong also boasts of at least three waterfalls, enticing visitors and foreigners for a hike and swim in its super clean waters. Dila Falls, the longest and farthest waterfall from the main entrance, would make you feel fulfilled after at least 1 hour and 30 minutes of hiking. If you want to go down at the bottom of Dila Falls, your adventurous spirit will soar because you literally have to crawl up and down a side of the mountain. There is even a rope-like root that you can hold on for support, making you feel like Tarzan!
CEDAR, Impasugong is truly a ‘natural’ amusement park, where one would take at least a few weeks before you truly enjoyed each and every amusement it provides. Even after years of going there consistently for one week, I still get fascinated by all the things I experience and see. I don’t ever want to stop because even if there was a sign that said to take nothing but pictures, I took with me memories of happiness, a refreshed soul, and the will to soldier on that would last a year until I come back to Cedar, Impasugong.
