Disaster Preparedness Guide

In our age today where climate change is one of the biggest problems being faced, it is not a surprise that various calamities happen. From drought to sudden storm, hailstorm, landslide, earthquake and etc., one thing is sure: we do not know what and when will it happen. Here are some guides for you to be prepared in any emergency disaster:

Be informed

Allot a time everyday to watch news and weather forecast to check if something is coming up. If you observe something is going to happen, for example a storm is approaching near your vicinity, you can plan and prepare necessary things you should do like stocking up food, emergency kits, and knowing where to go in worse case scenarios.

Have a Contact

Always have with you a list of contact numbers in case any emergency happens. Contact information on the nearest police station, barangay, fire station, hospital and other emergency response teams. You can also directly dial 911 now if anything happens but just to be sure, get those emergency digits as well.

Be Equipped

Prepare an “emergency bag” in your house where it contains basic medical kit, canned goods, biscuits, flashlight with extra batteries, whistle, water, and clothes enough for 5 days. Place it near exit doors so you can grab it immediately when sudden evacuation happens. So, when trapped anywhere especially on earthquakes and landslides, you have some basic necessities until help comes along.

Be Prepared

Last but not the least, prepare yourself from any emergency situations. If you have the opportunity to join trainings or even drills, do so. You may not be able to foretell what is going to happen but at least you can prepare yourself to any emergency cases.
