A friend of mine once told me a story about her boarders who were couples. These college students had an odd job which kept them in luxury and comfort even if they were self-supporting and was already with one child. They were into chatting with foreigners.

He would use his girlfriend’s picture as the profile photo and start chatting with foreigners looking for “love”. He got away with it because he always makes an excuse of having no camera whenever they ask for live videos. He is a Catfish, someone who uses another picture to start online romance with the intention of asking money, gifts, and expense paid travels.
Catfishes are rampant in our society right now. Usually, catfishes are boyfriends or husbands with no jobs or are too lazy to work for honest money. They operate along with their girlfriends or wives in tricking their foreigner chat mates, sending pictures wearing sexy outfits or in the nude. The foreigners do not stand a chance when these catfishes “consume” them alive, asking for thousands of dollars in gifts and living expenses.
How can one fish for a catfish? One can always demand live video chatting. When your chat mate refuses to do so, you can ask her to use a laptop that has a camera the next time you chat with her. Another solution would be searching their pictures online if they are just grabbed from Google or online public images. Lastly, if all else fails, you can always demand to meet. That is the time you can either resolve the matter or catch the catfish.
