PACQUIAO Recent Boxing Match Did Not Only Generate Billions In Revenues But Also Gives Us Inspiring Life Lessons…

Philippine pride ‘Manny Pacquiao’ has competed in boxing ring professionally since 1995. His credentials include being the only eight-division world champion in the history of boxing. He is one of the best boxers of all time if not the best boxer this generation has seen. Pacquiao has generated more than $1.2 billion in revenues from his bouts. He was ranked second highest paid athlete in the world in 2015 by Forbes.
Boxing did not only generate revenues for Pacquiao but also give him the privilege to inspire many Filipinos. We have seen him overcome trials of his married life along with his very supportive wife Jinkee. We also watched their family increase in number and their children grow up. He has established many businesses and properly managed his investments. His life has been a challenge and blessing to many and even in his political ambitions; he was fully supported by many Filipinos when he won the senatorial race.
His recent fight against Lucas Mathysse held in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia in July 2018 where he won his first knock-out after nine (9) years was historic and equally inspiring. I learned lessons not only from Pacquiao alone but also from his opponent and his head trainer. Here are the three (3) take-aways from the said fight:

1. From Sen. Manny Pacquiao

When people think you are already old, weak and obsolete; that is the best time you leave them in awe and show them what you are up to.

Many times in our life we felt left out. Perhaps due to old age as new and younger generation are emerging and showing up. At times, we felt neglected and ignored as if our time has already passed but that’s not exactly true.  The best time to show to the world who we really are and what we are capable of doing is when they least expect it and when they will be left caught off guard. They never thought you can finish your studies by your own self because you are just self-supporting and that it is impossible to balance work and studies at the same time. They never thought you would become rich because you came from a very poor family but you worked hard and started your own business from scratch. They never thought you would have your own happy and complete family because you came from a broken marriage and yet you pursued to establish a strong marriage and family. They never thought you would have your own baby since you had suffered several miscarriages before and you have already given up having a child of your own. THEY NEVER THOUGHT.

They never thought Manny Pacquiao would be won the fight against Mathysse but he proved at the very least expected time that he is still the strongest, wisest and the greatest boxer in the world.

2. From Lucas Mathysse

In life, it doesn't matter whether you win or lose, what matter is you have fought and you fought a great fight.

Life is a battle, it is a fight we have to face. Fight against trials, hardships, temptations, depression, hopelessness, immorality and whatever foe you can come across with. Usually, it is our own self that is our main enemy – our pride, discouragements, ego, and our being ‘human’ as we are. But no matter what battle we face in life, what is really important is we are fighting – keeping on, hoping and dreaming that one day we will become successful. We will be triumphant. We will be victorious. We will be able to reach that lifelong dream. You will someday marry your dream man or dream girl. Keep waiting. Keep going. Keep fighting!

Lucas Mathysse fight against Pacquiao has been a dream come true for him and even if he lost, he lost to a great fighter...a great legend...

3. From Buboy Fernandez (Pacquiao's head trainer)

I am challenged by people who do not believe in me and in my capabilities.

I saw on TV during an interview after the victorious bout when he shared how he was challenged by those people who did not believe in him, who questioned his credibility and doubted his ability.

Buboy Fernandez is Pacquiao’s childhood friend who replaced Freddie Roach as head trainer. Since he is homegrown and local, many did not believe in his capabilities to be able to prepare well Pacquiao for his fight. Many said he has no expertise in boxing but he proved them all wrong when he won. He knelt and cried by the side of the ring shortly after Pacquiao was declared the winner. Those were tears of joy. It was a very sweet victory for him.

As we go through life, we meet people who will be critical of us. They would not see any good thing in us no matter how we try. They only see the negative no matter how small it is. That should not put us down but instead, inspire us to that we are not what they believe we are…we are more to what they see. We can do more than what they think we can. And we will be successful even they think we are doomed to fail. With this, we will emerge as champions and titleholders from our own respective boxing arenas.
