Have we not wondered why children learn faster than adults?
Why children unconsciously choose to play and enjoy all the time?
And why the children don’t even bother thinking about problems like adults do?
We are knowledgeable about these things but the deeper wisdom seems hard to explain. It may take psychological part to expound this but I will touch the natural essence of children and their biological states.
Children are mentally and emotional empty since they're born. Lack of Information about the world they live and their experience with it are too obvious in them. Even their physicality has more time and space to gain and grow. So their level of absorbing information for learning or material needs for their bodies are too high. In this case, their attention is purely hungry to know and get the info available being shown to them. There is no attitude of rejecting even knowing that it could be a dangerous info. Children are pure to everything without labels on anything unless they are taught what’s good and bad. Compare to adults where we are conscious about so many things and even reject them. Adults are full and hard to instill new info because we have been filled with so much learning’s for many years. A cup full of water will never be poured with water again unless it empties itself.
And children are fresh breed of creatures ready to be given with bunch of delicacies being prepared for them. And now so clear that they have become better and faster on learning things such as technology and with so many things in their environment.
As you can see also that children always favor playing and very unconscious of problems from their environment. For them the world is beautiful and full of adventure and happiness. Because of their undying energy, their parents and guardians most of the time lose energy and patience. Is it something to prevent them to do more or stop them? Well, children are quite hard to discipline unlike adults yet we must not let their natural enjoyment dies down. They don’t even bother with problems if they hear them. In them, it truly doesn’t exist. In their unconscious mind, their parents and the Lord handle everything.
I considered children to be one of my greatest teachers in my journey towards life. For most of us have forgotten that we once became children but now have lost the purity and innocence in mind and heart.
Lessons from Children?
1) To remain empty and humble brings fast learning and powerful wisdom. We cannot stand with the knowledge we have and become stuck. Learning and Growing is an unending process.
2) We have been taught to be pure in everything. Our minds and hearts must not be filled with darkness for being the light is the only way to see goodness in this world.
3) Problems have no power over us like with the children. We know that if we believe in God and with the abilities we have to solve, worries has no place in us.
4) Enjoyment is not the least anyway. It is the emotional environment that favors wisdom and produce fast learning. Happiest moment is memorable and the mind rethinks what’s good.
We must stay like we were once a child, how a child learns and how he behaves in everything he does but in a mature adult way. True wisdom exists in them and it can exist within us also. It is not too late anyway!
