This was a sad news about our heroes, our teachers who took her own life. Just a few days ago when a DepEd teacher from Leyte National High School who committed suicide.
Emylou Malate who's 21 years old was found hanged in their house in Limba Village. A very tragic story that alarm Tacloban Department Of Education.
These occurrences are one of the major problems of teachers that are lack of support from their divisions. Higher office demands from their staff without seeing the danger of stress caused by work overload. Imagine how one teacher handles and Intramurals alone, lack of participation and support from their heads and their principals.
When they visit the schools, they demand beautification. The curtains should be uniform in every room, ask the kids to wax the floor so its look shiny. This is so absurd.
We should be focusing on the quality of education students needs. That's should be the basis of the system.
Quality teachers bring quality students into the real world.
But how can we do that if our educators are the ones whose suffering from work stress, credit card, loans, and other debt problems?
Many teachers in every area in our country are needing the attention of the government.
Across social media, it has been a hot topic, what is the real reason behind the sad and tragic story. It was mentioned that she was loaded with paper works and the stress of handling multi-grade students.
New teachers are so vulnerable, superiors are so demanding. She's just new and the work piled up on her that caused her to give up and took her life.
As mentioned in one of the articles written, that teachers should evaluate themselves especially new ones if they can handle career pressure. But I don't think this is the right statement.
I believe on high standards that they must implement. To reduce the workload, they have to assess their senior staffs who have been in the service for long years and distribute the job equally. There's no senior or neophyte here. They get paid the same.
We should fight for equality in the workplace. And encourage everyone to care for each other.
