I was just going around the place, waiting for the bus to call its passengers when I met this old beggar along the way asking for some spare change. The woman gave the most precious and genuine smile as she received the money I handed out to her and I truly felt the joy she felt during that time. Despite the noise and disorder around me, her smile stood out and left me speechless for quite some time. Reality kicked in when I heard the bus conductor calling us passengers back to the bus. I was musing over the exchange that happened between me and the woman when I was struck by one amazing thought. If the spare change brought that joy to the woman, how much more joy would it be if she knows that Somebody from above cares for her more than anybody else here on earth.
The greatest joy man can experience here on earth is to know that his sins have been pardoned because Somebody loved Him enough to give His life just to do so. We’ll never get lasting happiness in this earth because everything is temporary. However, there is one thing that is constant and had been transcending time and that is no other than the love of God for man. The most high-tech cellphone nor the most luxurious house can ever compare to the joy of knowing that we can have eternal security just by recognizing what Jesus did on the cross as final and powerful to save us from the penalty of our sin in Hell.
Protection from poverty, corruption, diseases, and all other problems can never guarantee us a good future in this earth and much more an eternal one. The world may have ignored this but the truth still remains, the only One who can offer us the greatest joy and can give us the most genuine smile is the fact that Jesus loves us and He wants us to know Him more.
