The Philippines is not sluggish about the tourism growth. We had a good reputation for welcoming expatriates and visitors to see the picturesque view of our islands.
We are sad about the sudden decline in the number of tourists coming due to the closure of the foremost tourist attraction, Boracay.
While there are more places to look forward like Puerto Princesa, Coron Palawan, Lake Sebu in South Cotabato, Siargao in Surigao Del Sur, Little Boracay In Davao Del Sur, Lake Agco In Magpet Cotabato, our country has more to offer. Backpackers are so excited in the middle of summer. Having fun is not an issue in the rainy seasons. As long as your excitement level is jim-dandy to get to where you want.
A quick look at our tourism data
From the previous years and what is ahead of us. According to the (PSA- Philippines Statistics Authority), the tourism growth in the country is increasing compared to the export services in the nation which shows about 448.6 Billion pesos in 2017 compared to 2016 which has 311.7 billion for inbound tourism. These are expatriates coming to the Philippines including Filipino who reside abroad. While domestic tourism is increasing too with 2108.2 billion in 2016 while 2644.8 in 2017. The total employment increases to 13.1 percent in 2017.
The employment rate is in good shape.
The categories of our country's employment are classified into three divisions. We have Agriculture, Service, and Industry sectors. And the highest employment rates fall into the service sectors which was about 57.1% in 2017. The unemployment rate has been doing well in 2017 which slopes down to 16.3% in 2017 compared to 19.6 in 2016. The second highest rate of employment is in agriculture and lastly, industry workers made up the smallest group.
The future is in the service industry. We can create more businesses and promote employment to boost our economy by tapping into tourism initiatives.
