“Boooooooring!” That’s a word we usually hear from our kids and teens nowadays whenever they find nothing to do. For some people, it is actually a sign that they must be taught something and that is what we call INITIATIVE.
Youth nowadays tend to feel bored when they don’t have anything to do or watch that will amuse them. Some even grow up always going over their friend’s house and end up getting in trouble. They jump from one thing to another just to find that thing that will make their time worth it only to fall in the same circle. This is not a healthy thing to practice. Instead, we should teach them at a very young age to practice initiative. Instead of leaving the kids to watch any stuff they find in TV, let’s teach them to look for ways they can help around the house like sweeping the floor, washing the dishes, weeding the garden or folding clothes. Give them chores to be responsible for. It is never wrong for them to go over a friend’s house to have some fun but they can do it after they finish their chores. Kids will never grow bored if they find out how much work needs to be done at home and imaging the mother’s joy when her kids help her out!
Leaving them to entertain themselves without cultivating responsibility will only result in producing adults that go after the exciting stuff but the best part happens when we do the opposite. Teaching them at a young age will help them develop life-long skills they can surely use as adults. Training them to have initiative will help them to grow responsible and they will have you to thank for.
