YEHEEY! A Shout of Joy & Victory

Filipinos are naturally warm and friendly and we are becoming more and more expressive as well. YEHEEY is a word we often hear in the Philippines as an expression of joy and victory. A little child when he receives even just a simple present from his parents when they come home from work exclaims ‘Yeheey!’ A student gets his test paper from his teacher, it was a very difficult examination and he sees a passing mark, shouts ‘Yeheey!’ A father when he receives earlier his salary and plans to bring his family to mall this weekend says to himself ‘Yeheey!’ A mother when she finds time for a ‘me-time’ after  being tied up with a whole month’s motherhood tasks shares ‘Yeheey!’ to her friends online.

A Yeheey in our daily life is important. It is so important to keep us laughing, to keep us smiling and to keep us hoping and dreaming. It simply means that every day in life no matter how hard it may seem, we should find simple joys and victories worth celebrating; worth expressing; and worth sharing. We don’t have to wait that we win lottery and become millionaires to celebrate and be happy. We just need a simple gesture from an officemate; a simple act from our children and the usual love and support from our husband for us to express our happiness and shout ‘Yeheey!’

Perhaps you have not remembered such time anymore as it has been quite long since you have experienced a 'Yeheey'. Then it is time to check yourself.
