Japan Has a Unique Shaped of Watermelons
The
exquisiteness of summertime is preeminent enjoyed with a juicy watermelon while
on the beach, park, etc. We love the sweetness and its health benefits. Interestingly, watermelon has high
water content, have 92% of water. This makes it hydrating and helps us feel full.
Furthermore, watermelon
is a popular summer fruit not only in the Philippines but also in Japan. People
give watermelons as a gift and they play “suikawari”, which is like piñata.
Suikawari is a traditional Japanese game
that involves splitting a watermelon with a stick while you’re blindfolded.
It is played in the summertime, Suikawari is most often seen at beaches, but
also occurs at festivals, picnics, and other summer events.
Additionally,
depending on the size, a whole watermelon costs around ten bucks in Japan. This
is considered the luxury types of watermelon, which most people typically don’t
eat or buy. Many of these watermelons took years of practice in order to get
their shape right. They are grown in a special containers or molds. Did you
know that they have a pyramid, heart-shaped, and square-shaped watermelons?
Moreover,
Japan’s Densuke Watermelon pertained as The World’s Most Expensive watermelon
fetches up to 4500$. Yes! You read it right. Densuke Watermelons are similar to
luxury car in the watermelon world. It is grown only in the island of Hokkaido,
Japan. Their numbers is limited every year, maybe the reason why it is possibly
the world’s most expensive watermelons.
