Most of us probably want to own an iPhone. While some jokingly said that they would sell their kidneys just to acquire one, one particular guy did it and regretted at the end. This man is probably out of his mind!

Seven years ago, the 24-year-old man identified as Xiao Wang was only 17 when the iPhone4 was released and all teenagers like badly wanted to own it. It became a must-have item in their school and you are considered rich when you have it.

Xiao was born in a poor family and purchasing it is too expensive for them so they didn’t allow. He was so determined and desperate to own an iPhone 4 so he looks for ways and means to have it. He came up with an idea of selling his one kidney to make fast money.

"One kidney is enough for me, why do I need the other one? Why don't I shall sell it?" he said.

Asking around where he can sell his kidney, he got to know an illegal underground hospital where kidney removals could be done. He was offered 22,000 Yuan (approx. RM13,000), more than enough to buy an iPhone. He then traveled from Anhui to Chenzhou, China for the surgery and immediately bought an iPhone after that.

The middle person told Xiao that after one week, he will have a normal life again. But unfortunately, it wasn’t the case. The operating environment might not sanitize properly, the wounds were infected. His parents have no idea what he did until when the got terribly sick.

Because his kidney was severely affected, he spent most of his time in bed since then. It also put his family into financial crisis after having to support Xiao Wang’s hemodialysis. Thankfully, the middle person and the underground hospital were brought to court and the family received money as compensation.
