Choosing to Forgive

When a person hurts you, can you easily forgive and let go? Or instead, you hold grudges, resentment, and thoughts of revenge?

The nature of a person, when hurt or wronged by someone, is to hold grudges and get revenge that can maybe last a lifetime. Many are unable to take control of their anger even when the person has already given an apology. While some can easily let go and move on, some just can’t put it off and live a peaceful life.

Truly, only the strong and courageous can easily forgive, forget and to let go of the bitterness anger has created. Holding on grudge creates more hurt to yourself than it does to the person you hate. You become bitter, resentful, anxious and even depressed. However, if you let go, you will experience freedom and peace.

But honestly, forgiving and letting go is hard to do when you the wound a person caused you is too deep to be healed right away. But it does not mean it cannot be healed.

The question is how to let go? How to forgive?

Forgiveness is a commitment to a process of change. It is about changing your perspective, changing your attitude, and changing your heart.

Change is not easy but it is possible. It is also a choice. You can choose to forgive now or later. But what’s important is to always choose what brings peace to your heart. Because when you do it, it will only be then you can feel true freedom.
