Close Your Eyes. What Do You See?

Take a moment to close your eyes. What do you see? I have asked friends, peers, church mates and even children to do the same and they answered that they saw nothing. If your answer is same as them then try to do it again and guess what? Yes! You're right! It was darkness. There are many people who are afraid of dark. Do you know one? Or are you one of them?

The Bible tells us that in the beginning the world was covered by darkness and the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters and said let there be light and there was light (Genesis 1:2-3). Whether or not we realize it, darkness is innate within us. Want to know why? Close your eyes and look to your heart. What do you see? Is it filled with madness, hatred, guilt, insecurities and bitterness?

The darkness that we've seen with our human eyes is nothing to be afraid of. What we should be afraid of is the darkness hidden inside our hearts. Our insecurities, hatred, bitterness, and covetousness are things that are holding us back from what we might become today or in the future. When are you going to release that burden? When are you going to forgive? When are you going to turn hatred to love? When are you going to shed some light to your darkened heart?
