Dealing With Delays

This fast-paced generation is characterized by more hectic routines and busier social lives.  In moments of a hurry, people fear delays. A minute of delay in a flight or a ride will shatter one’s schedule.  The applicant who came late for just a few minutes in an interview may lose a once in a lifetime employment opportunity.  A few seconds delay in a surgery may cause the death of one’s life.  The very reason why people get annoyed when they get stacked in traffic is they hate waiting. 

Delays are something most people don’t like. But it is also something that is unplanned.  It happens even to the most time-conscious and most-organized people. It happens to everyone. It is inevitable. 

So it is a truism to say that delays are part of human lives and no matter how much we try to avoid it, it will always find its way to one’s life.  We have to understand that delays are not something to be avoided but to be confronted. So we must think of ways on how to deal with it when it happens. A short delay in a ride or flight is a wonderful opportunity to read a book or news. A few minutes delay in an order at a restaurant can be utilized for a delightful chitchat with friends or loved ones. An employee may listen to a relaxing music in the middle of a jam-packed traffic. A class may use the time to scan their notes and have the last review of their lessons before the exam while waiting for the delayed teacher. These are just some of the beautiful ways one can deal with delays. Delays may seem unfavorable at first but it can be turned into some great and wonderful opportunities.
