Divorce: The Not Sweet Just Bitter Ending

There are several stories that would make me feel emotionally hurt. Most of these stories are usually about a love that was meant to end happily ever after but broke off with ‘I love you never’: divorce. This hurts more than a famous couple who found other partners or someone who I know breaking their engagement. These couples weathered fights when they were just dating, went through a lot during engagement and finally decided to live together forever. How can they say ‘this is the end, let’s divorce’ after all they have been through together?

Divorce is always painful since it can only happen when someone made a mistake that one can never forgive. The most common reason would be cheating and that hurts like crazy. Some literally go crazy after realizing their partner was cheating on them. They then proceed to work on getting a divorce since they ‘finally’ found their one and only love in their side chicks. I know of someone who recently got a message from her husband that he wanted to get a divorce. He wanted to marry the nurse he met during one accident and he can only do that if she let him go. She was shocked and angry at how he can do this to her when she was working hard to earn money while taking care of their children. Really, how can someone do this? How can someone who vowed to “cherish and honor, for better or for worse, in sickness and in health, till death do us part” easily tell his partner that he wanted off from this holy promise? Not only does divorce hurt the partner who got cheated on, divorce also hurts the children. The children would get caught in the crossfires when your partner rants about what you did, making them choose who to love and who to hate. Sometimes, the children get torn from one parent and siblings, pining for his mother and sister when he went with his dad, wondering if he would ever feel happy again.

There is never a moment of happiness for everyone who is involved with the couples who are going through a divorce. When you chose to cheat, you chose to hurt everyone who loves you and everyone who loved you back. So if you are looking for a lifetime partner, I ask you to please think deeply and discern if you truly know the other person and if you can live with his good and bad side forever. You will make a promise with God in front of everyone that your chosen partner would be the one who would stay by your side in your whole lifetime and divorce should never, ever be considered.
