Emotional Intelligence (EQ) : Weapon to Fight Against Depression

As the saying goes," Adversity is the rule of life." Every one of us is having a hard time dealing with people and situations. Financial deprivation, relationship beak ups, and family problems are some common factors that will cause depression on an individual. When you face so much at once, what will you do? I wonder why some are considering taking their own lives. Most of the suicidal persons are the young people. Some youth feel such an intense anxiety that they see no reasons to continue their lives. They see it as an escape for them not to be able to deal with their current big problems and failures.

Every human living on earth suffers depression at any form but why do some people reached a point of taking their own lives?  I remember my college English Professor once said that there are two types of intelligence. The Intellectual Intelligence (IQ) and the Emotional Intelligence (EQ) and she gave every one in the class the opportunity to share our ideas on which of the two is the most important. Everyone in the class including myself answered and preferred IQ. With no further explanation she remarked that the most important between the two is the EQ. At the end of the day, what she said left us a thought to ponder about.

As we walked through to the tedious journey towards our dreams, life is getting harder. There are times that seems like is there’s no way but the most important thing is that you know how to handle the situation and deal with them. To own that, you must first develop how to handle your emotions and learn how rely on God in every difficult situation. Strong character and stable emotions equate high emotional intelligence; this will be our weapon to fight against depression.
