Learn And Play Piano On Your Own

I wonder how many of us dream about playing the piano when we were younger. When I was a child every time I hear a piano playing on the radio I use to put my both hands on flat surfaces, close my eyes and imagine myself as if I am the one playing it.

My journey towards learning piano begins with that little seed of aspiration until I made my first single step towards it. Here are my few tips on how to study piano and play it on your own.

1. Learn how to read notes. You probably heard from your elementary music teacher the famous notations  " Every Good Boy Does Fine" “Good Boys Don't Fight Anyone” or "All Cows Eat Grass ". To be able to read notes memorizing these notations is not enough but mastery of it is a must. Moreover, study also the kinds of notes such us a whole note, half note,quarter note and other music stuff like the flats, sharps and etc.

2. Exercise your fingers. Try to play the basic notes do re mi fa so la ti do starting with your right hands then to your left. Afterwards, play them together with your both hands. Spend 1-2 hours a day doing this exercise to improves the flexibility of your fingers.

3. Play a song one at a time.  Most of the reasons why someone tend to give up on learning how to play piano is because of unwise song choice. They tend to play hard  songs  that beyond of their capability. If you are a beginner, play a song one at a time and choose a song with readable notes and easy chords.

4. Practice makes you better. To be able to play a song smoothly with no mistakes is to practice diligently each day. Even professional pianist always  takes their time to practice piano to conditioned their fingers and improves their performance. Never let your fingers sleep! Try to spend at least two hours each day to exercise and improves your ability to read notes.

It really takes a great amount of patience to be able to play piano smoothly. Making mistakes when playing a song is part of the long process. Take your time to practice piano each day as long as you can with passion and patience.
