The actions of one generation have consequences for those following. Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) allows business companies to make significant contributions for the benefit of the society at large especially in the preservation of the environment. Social responsibility is a duty every individual has to perform so as to maintain a balance between the economy and the ecosystems. A trade-off may exist between economic development, in the material sense, and the welfare of the society and environment.  This responsibility can be passive, by avoiding engaging in socially harmful acts, or active, by performing activities that directly advance social goals. Social responsibility must be intergenerational since what is sown by today’s generation will be harvested by the next.

Despite various debates and people being skeptical who view CSR as a scapegoat of businesses from performing economic roles such as paying taxes, this policy spurs businesses to develop means in monitoring the public’s social perception  of the company’s image. It has encouraged companies’ actions toward the positive impact of consumers, community and its employees.

CSR creates values and improves economic performance for organizations, and sustainable development is the key to manage economic, social and environmental challenges that the world is facing and will be meeting in the future. CSR is making companies pay forward to the next generation by developing them to become responsible for a more sustainable planet for all humans are actors of the world of tomorrow.
