A few decades ago, people thought it was impossible to make your desktop computers portable. With its huge CRT monitors, it was too funny to think about bringing your computer everywhere you go, but then the first laptop was invented by Adam Osborne in 1981.
The first laptop was called Osborne 1 and cost $ 1,795.00, with bundles of programs and a small built-in computer screen which was invented by Osborne Electronics. Their successful launch of the first portable computer gained them high sales reaching 10,000 units a month; A few years later, IBM launched their IBM5155 and Compaq released their Compaq SLT/286 in 1988 which was the first of its kind to have a VGA graphics.
Technically, all of these can't be considered a "laptop" due to its 10kg weight which is relatively heavy when placed on your lap. In 1989, the first real "laptop" computer was released by NEC which was called Ultralite, weighing only about 5lbs or about 2.3kgs.
This revolutionized the laptop race. Today, there are lots of improvements to laptops, not only to its physical appearance but its performance as well.
