Ali Express Profile
A Hangzhou-based Alibaba Group who is a huge Chinese e-commerce company which dominates their domestic B2C market. Already very well known for their international B2B (Business to consumer) platform Alibaba.com.
Launched in 2010 as a B2C platform for Chinese companies, Ali Express conducts directly between a company and consumers even overseas consumers who are the end-users of its products or services and now very popular in Brazil and Russia.
Communication
According to data from July 2014, Ali Express is already Russia’s leading e-commerce site in terms of traffic, and the country’s tenth most popular website overall. Also, data viewed on Alexa.com showed that in December 2014, Ali Express was the 10th most popular website in Brazil and that Brazil accounted for more traffic to the website than any other country.
Partners and Markets
Ali Express' sellers can be either companies or individuals, similar to eBay but different to Amazon acting as an e-commerce platform and doesn’t sell products directly to consumers.
Internet usage rise for consumers on shopping online for the latest products and affordable prices has led to an increase in international e-commerce as consumers look beyond their own country’s border for that good deal.
Products and System
Ali Express promotes clothing, electronics, sports and more, offering all the deals!
- Safe Payment
- Buyer Protection
- Free Shipping
- Great Value
- Types: Clothing, Phones, Computer, Consumer Electronics, Jewelry, Furniture, Bags, Toys, Watches, Shoes
With China’s role as “the world’s factory” firmly established, the website Ali Express is helping consumers buy directly from the source at very attractive prices.
Interestingly, Ali Express doesn’t allow consumers in mainland China to buy from the platform and doesn’t allow non-Chinese individuals & companies to open stores.
- Sellers on Ali Express are all located in China and are each issued a unique store number on Ali Express.
- Ali Express has however implemented a store rating system.
- Ali Express urges its customers to only make payments to sellers through their platform so they can offer a degree of customer protection. Although refunds can be applied for, the process is very hit or miss. Ali Express offers tips for avoiding fraud on their website.
With so many products manufactured in China, the choice of products is almost endless. As you’d expect on a B2C platform, consumer products make up the bulk of the items.
