There is no solid standard in responsible parenting, but maintaining basic standards of behavior and safety can make the difference between responsible and careless parenting. During this stage, babies learn literacy fundamentals such as:  associating pictures with words and learn the significance of various tones of voice when parents read with expression. As the child is learning, it is also good to increase the difficulty of the learning habits you would like to inculcate to the child. With this in mind, a parent will be producing children that love to read books and these will be a powerful tool for their children to perform well all throughout their elementary school years.
