Online Scams are so rampant today; avoid being a victim by following these tips below:
1.       Spot scammers – They usually claim to be somebody you know, like a relative, or an organization you work with. Do not send cash or give out personal data if you are not sure of the identity of the person you are transacting with.
2.       Verify the company’s profile online – Read the company or product reviews and search their names online and with words like scam, fraud or trick added to it to find if there are similar instances you can find on the internet.
3.       Do not trust the name appeared on your caller ID – Some scammers are sophisticated and they can utilize the power of technology to make you believe that they are genuine. You might receive a call that doesn’t contain a number or the name of a company to trick you into giving in to what they demanded, thinking that they were legit.
4.       Do not pay in advance for a promised services or products – Be careful to those offers that are just too good to be true yet too promising. Someone might call you and offer a guaranteed visa processing and asking for an upfront payment. This is not only impossible but also a clear scam since you should only apply for the services from an authorized agency.
5.       Consult somebody – Before you pay for the offered service, converse with somebody you trust. Scammers need you to decide quickly. They might even try to withdraw the offer if you would try to verify their legitimacy. Don’t rush, take your time, consult a friend and decide wisely.
There’s no harm in wanting to have the things we need so easily, but we have to be careful because there are lots of people who also are taking advantage of this reality. The only way to solve our problem about these online scams is by having right information.
