Managing Time: Do Not Work Hard, Work Smart

A lot of people always cram, are always in a hurry and always busy. They scurry from task to task, constantly on the phone making calls, checking emails, running errands, etc. It seems that there is never enough time in a day. They go running here and there trying to fit duties in a limited time.  No matter what they do, they always seem to stay busy.

We are used to believe that “staying busy” equates to “working hard” that will result to being successful.

However, this belief might not be true and often leads to unproductivity. Sure, you have done a lot but the question you need to answer is “have you done enough?”

At some point we are taught to “work smarter, not harder.” This means we should be able to manage our time effectively, simplifying tasks, doing it in a faster way, and be able to relieve stress.

The key to working smarter rather than working harder is time management. Time management as defined is “the process of planning and exercising conscious control of time spent on specific activities, especially to increase effectiveness, efficiency or productivity”.

In short time management is about balancing.

Balancing work, relationships, and time for yourself.

You need to create a system and learn techniques that you should follow to be able to manage your time effectively.

If you lack balance, you are going to feel stressed out. Even if you can juggle your responsibilities and meet your duties, without balance you are going to eventually reach your breaking point. That is why it is really important to give yourself enough time as much as you give time for your responsibilities.

If you can do this and be able to maintain this lifestyle, then you can say you are living your life.

Remember, it is not true that you do not have enough time. You have exactly 24 hours a day as everybody does.

Manage your time wisely. Live your life fully.
