Whatever social networking sites we log into today, there is never a shortage of pictures we can find. From these social sites, we all can see a person’s desire to be seen and appreciated but is there really need for publication just to receive admiration?
Posting pictures are never wrong but if the motive behind is to gather admiration from others, to increase one’s level of self-esteem and/or to try to tell others that you are better than them, then the internet is the wrong place to do it. Before others could appreciate you, you should learn to appreciate yourself first. God has created us unique and to be discontent about how you look is like telling God He didn’t do His job well. Imagine how the world would be if we were created looking the same and with the same talents and skills. Never compare yourself with others because you have qualities they don’t have and they also have qualities you don’t have which actually balances things off. Love yourself the way others won’t ever do and it will change the way you look at others and how you are to them. You’ll find confidence in doing the things you’re good at and charm towards people who’d admire you for being yourself.
The beauty you see and the likes it garners as you see in the internet are sometimes superficial. Sometimes they are just photo shopped truths that make us wish for something they don’t really have. Discover your God-given strengths and skills and use them to your advantage. You may not get any virtual likes for it but I assure you, the awe and inspiration people in your surroundings get out of you is worth more than all the likes combined. Plus, you get to give glory to your Maker too for being happy content with what He’s given!
