Thanks To My Second Mom

I came from a conservative family so when my family found out my early relationship with my boyfriend, they immediately demanded a wedding from my husband’s family. My mother-in- law was shocked and asked me if I’m pregnant but I wasn’t. At first, she refused and told me to stop my relationship with her son. But when I was about to leave for Manila (my Dad decided to break us apart) to continue my studies there, my mother-in-law called my Mom and agreed to what my family wants.

I’m thankful because my mother-in-law never hesitates. She never knew what kind of person I might be but she accepted me wholeheartedly. From that day forward, I felt extra lucky with regards to our relationship and that feeling has never stopped until now. I thank her for being the kindest person I know. I am grateful I was welcomed by a new family I feel like I have always been a member.

It isn’t always true that one gets to have an opportunity to feel completely confident about their relationship with their mother-in-law. But I’m thankful to God I am one of those blessed individuals with two moms who love me unconditionally, flaws and all. From a daughter-in-law who is fortunate enough to be part of your mom tribe thank you to my beloved mother-in-law for being my second mom.
