Novaliches cops have seized about P1.6 million worth of shabu in three separate buy-bust operations in Quezon City.
Police Senior Inspector Dennis Francisco, chief of the Station Drug Enforcement Unit and Intelligence Branch of the QCPD Station 4, who led the operations, said that they first arrested 40-year-old alleged pusher Amor Furagganan in a buy-bust operation in her house in a subdivision in Barangay Sangandaan past 10 p.m. on Monday.
Also arrested was her 33-year-old cohort, Rizal Rodriguez.
Aside from the buy-bust money and some shabu paraphernalia, operatives of the SDEU confiscated seven sachets of shabu with an estimated weight of 135 grams and a standard drug price of P918,000.
Francisco told GMA News that Furagganan's arrest was the result of three weeks of painstaking work by operatives of the Intelligence branch and the SDEU of Novaliches Police Station, who arrested Furagganan's live-in partner Jeffrey Ramirez, a.k.a. "Ambo," in Bago Bantay, Barangay Ramon Magsaysay, in December.
P270,000 worth of shabu was confiscated from Ramirez along with three other drug suspects during the arrest. Ambo is already facing charges of violating Section 5 of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
According to the police, it was during intel work that they learned of Furagganan, who was a regular visitor to Ambo's cell.
Police Superintendent Rossel Cejas expressed gratitude for the successful arrest of Furagganan, whom they believe is the leader of a group that deals drugs in Quezon City, Caloocan, the CAMANAVA area and as far as Bulacan and Pampanga. She is also alleged to be involved in other criminal activities.
"During our investigation, we found out that a.k.a. 'Amor' was a former member of the already neutralized Highway Robbery, Carnapping and Kidnapping Group led by Ramon Go who is now serving his term in National Bilibid Prison," said Cejas.
Furagganan was also previously charged with highway robbery, carnapping, and counterfeiting, and was included on the drug watchlist of Barangay Baesa, Cejas added.
In a separate buy-bust operation also run by SDEU operatives of the same station, five individuals including a female minor were apprehended.
Cops recovered 14 sachets with a combine estimated weight of 65 grams or P442,000 worth of shabu.
All of the suspects will be facing charges of violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.
